# ClickUp alternative: how Prior compares

## Who each one suits

ClickUp suits you if you want one configurable workspace for a whole team: tasks, docs, whiteboards, forms and sprints, with the views and fields you choose, and desktop apps for Windows, Mac and Linux plus iOS and Android. Its pages list 1,000+ integrations and a public API.

Prior suits you if you mostly plan your own work, alone or with a few people: tasks with a priority and a due date, habits and notes in one app, and a planner that places tasks in the free hours of your calendar. It has no iOS app yet. On an iPhone or iPad you open it in the browser.

## Where ClickUp goes further

- **Breadth.** Docs, whiteboards and forms sit in the same workspace as tasks, and Business adds Workload and Timeline views. Prior has no whiteboards or forms.
- **Sprints on every plan.** Prior's sprints, story points and burn charts need Pro.
- **Custom fields and views.** You define the fields and choose among 10+ views. Prior's fields are fixed.
- **Integrations and API.** 1,000+ tools and a public API, against Prior's MCP server and calendar imports.
- **An iOS app.** ClickUp lists one; Prior does not have one yet.

## What Prior does differently

Prior asks for a priority and a due date, and uses them. They place each task in the Eisenhower matrix, and the planner turns open tasks into blocks around your events. Habits, flashcards and a Focus timer are part of the app. Your data lives on your device first on every platform Prior runs on, and the account keeps devices in sync. Any AI assistant can read and edit your tasks through Prior's MCP server, on every plan. Prior has fewer options to configure.

## Switching from ClickUp

Prior has no ClickUp importer, but it reads CSV. ClickUp's help center describes exporting tasks to CSV from the Workspace settings, or from a List or Table view; what you can export depends on your plan and role. In Prior, open [Settings → Import](https://app.priortasks.com/settings/import), choose **Other** and add the file. Prior guesses columns from their names and shows the mapping, so check which column holds the title, status, due date and project. Tasks arrive without a project unless a column is mapped to Project. Nothing is saved until you confirm.

Docs, whiteboards, comments and time tracking do not come across. Copy the text of the docs you want into Prior notes by hand. The steps are in [Import your data](https://priortasks.com/docs/getting-started/import-your-data/).
