# Export your data

> Download a ZIP copy of your tasks, habits, notes, projects, flashcards and settings from Settings → Profile & account. See what is in it and what is not.

You can take a full copy of your account with you at any time. It is a ZIP of ordinary files that you can open without Prior.

## Export

1. Open **Settings → Profile & account**.
2. Find **Export my data** and choose **Export**.
3. Wait for **Preparing…** to finish. Your browser or app saves a file named `prior-export-` followed by the date, for example `prior-export-2026-11-05.zip`.

The export needs a connection. If it fails, the page says "The export failed. Try again in a moment." You can ask for it again right away.

## What is in the ZIP

| File | What it holds |

| `README.txt` | What the archive contains and what is never exported. |
| `profile.json` | Your name, email, language, whether your email is confirmed, whether two-step verification is on, whether Google is linked, and your dates. |
| `tasks.json` and `tasks.csv` | Your tasks, and the tasks of the projects you belong to. The CSV opens in any spreadsheet. |
| `habits.json`, `areas.json` | Your habits and areas. |
| `projects.json` | Your personal projects, and your shared projects with their members by name and role only. |
| `notes.json` and `attachments/` | Folders and notes, and the files attached to them. |
| `shared-notes.json` | The shared notes of your projects. |
| `flashcards/` | Decks, notes and the full review log. |
| `settings.json` | Your assistant settings, your preferences, and the calendars and events you created in Prior. |
| `assistant-chats.json` | Your Prior AI conversations. |
| `comments.json` | The comments you wrote on shared-project tasks. |
| `game.json` | Your level, streak, achievements, inventory and chests. |

## What is never exported

- Password hashes, sessions, access keys and tokens, API keys, and the secrets of two-step verification.
- Any field in your settings that looks like a credential. Your OpenRouter key is saved with your account but left out: the file only says whether you have one.
- The emails of Gmail and the events of Google Calendar that you connected. Prior does not keep them on its server: your device reads them from Google. See [Gmail](https://priortasks.com/docs/integrations/gmail/).
- Other people's emails and personal data. Members of shared projects appear by display name and role only.

## Before you delete your account

The deletion dialog has an **Export your data first** button that starts the same export. See [Delete your account](https://priortasks.com/docs/account/delete-your-account/).

## Good to know

- The export reads your account on the server. Changes still waiting to sync on a device are not in it: let the sync finish first. See [Fix sync problems](https://priortasks.com/docs/troubleshooting/sync-problems/).
- You can import tasks into another tool from `tasks.csv`. To bring a Todoist, Linear or Notion export into Prior, see [Import your data](https://priortasks.com/docs/getting-started/import-your-data/).
- Export requests are rate-limited against automated use, so many exports in a row may be refused for a moment.
