You can leave any shared project that you do not own, whatever your role. Leaving is immediate and it does not ask the owner.

1. Open the project and choose **Share**.
2. At the bottom of the dialog, choose **Leave project**.
3. Prior asks "Leave this project? You'll need a new invitation to come back." Choose **Leave**.

Prior confirms with "You left “Project name”." and takes you back to your projects.

## What changes

- **For you:** the project disappears from your projects, and you lose access to it. Shared notes you had open close.
- **For the team:** the member list updates for everyone, and the place you used in the plan's limit on people becomes free.
- **What you leave behind:** your comments stay in their threads under your name. Tasks assigned to you keep you as their assignee, shown as "Former member", until someone assigns them again.

## Come back

You need a new way in. Ask the owner for a fresh [invitation](https://priortasks.com/docs/collaboration/invitations/), or open an active [invitation link](https://priortasks.com/docs/collaboration/share-links/) if the owner has one. You will see the usual confirmation first, and you rejoin with the role the invitation or link gives.

## Good to know

- **An owner cannot leave.** An owner who no longer wants the project can delete it, which removes it for every member. Roles are in [Roles and permissions](https://priortasks.com/docs/collaboration/roles-and-permissions/).
- **The owner can remove you.** It takes effect at once: the project disappears from your devices, and a shared note you were editing says "You no longer have access to this note."
- **You need a connection** to leave, because the project lives on Prior's servers.
