A day counts toward your streak when you complete at least one task or check in at least one habit. Days follow your own time zone, so the streak rolls over at your midnight, not at a server's.

## What counts

- Completing any task, in a personal or a shared project.
- Checking in a habit for today or for yesterday. Older dates never count.
- It does not matter how many you do. One is enough.

Your streak and its flame show in the sidebar. **Progress → Overview** adds your best streak, the freezes you hold, and whether today already counts: "Today counts" with "Your streak is safe until tomorrow", or "Complete one task or habit today to keep your {count}-day streak". When you hold a freeze, it says "Otherwise a freeze will cover your {count}-day streak".

## Streak freezes

A freeze saves your streak on a day you miss. You never buy one:

- You earn one each time your streak reaches a multiple of 7 days (7, 14, 21 and so on).
- Some [chests](https://priortasks.com/docs/game-mode/chests-and-items/) contain one.
- You can hold at most 2.

When you complete something after missing days, Prior spends one freeze for each missed day and the streak goes on. A message says "A streak freeze saved your streak". If you missed more days than you hold freezes, the streak starts over at 1 and no freeze is spent.

## Chests for long streaks

| Streak | Chest |
| --- | --- |
| 7 days | Rare |
| 30 days | Epic |
| 100 days | Legendary |
| 365 days | Legendary |

The streak achievements (3, 7, 30, 100 and 365 days) come with their own rewards. See [Achievements](https://priortasks.com/docs/game-mode/achievements/).

## Good to know

- **A lost streak costs only the counter.** Your best streak stays recorded, your XP and level are untouched, and your pet never gets sad.
- A day still open is not a missed day: you have until midnight.
- The **Streak** leaderboard ranks live streaks of people who chose to be visible. See [Leaderboards, usernames and kudos](https://priortasks.com/docs/game-mode/leaderboards-and-kudos/).
- In Calm mode your streak keeps counting without showing. Switch to Game and it is there.
- Habit schedules decide which days a habit is due, but a streak asks for any task or any check-in, not for every habit.
