The same tasks appear in several views. Each answers a different question.

| View | Shows | Use it to |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Today** | A short list of what to do now. | Decide your day. See [Use the Today page](https://priortasks.com/docs/getting-started/today-page/). |
| **All tasks** | Every task you own, across projects, grouped by status. | Search, filter and sort everything. |
| **My tasks** | Tasks assigned to you, plus your own unassigned tasks outside shared projects. | Focus on what is yours when you share projects. You need to be signed in. |
| **Priority lens** | Open tasks in four quadrants. | See what matters. See [The Eisenhower matrix](https://priortasks.com/docs/tasks/eisenhower-matrix/). |
| **Waiting** | Tasks you wait on someone for. | Follow up. See [Statuses and the Inbox](https://priortasks.com/docs/tasks/statuses-and-inbox/). |
| **A project** | The tasks of one project, as a list or a board. | Work on one outcome. See [Projects](https://priortasks.com/docs/projects/). |

**My tasks**, **Waiting** and the **Priority lens** are optional spaces. Add them in **Settings → General → Navigation**. See [Find your way around Prior](https://priortasks.com/docs/getting-started/navigation/).

## All tasks as a list

Tasks are grouped by status, in this order: **In progress**, **Up next**, **Inbox**, **Waiting**, **Backlog**. Completed tasks sit in a folded row, **Done · 12**, at the end. The title shows how many tasks are active. Each group has an **Add task** row, and a **+** button in its header opens the full sheet in that status.

Click a task to open it. See [View and edit a task](https://priortasks.com/docs/tasks/task-details/). On a phone, a row of chips above the list filters by status.

## All tasks as a board

Switch **List** to **Kanban** in the page header. On a phone, use the control in the top bar. **Group by** sets the columns:

| Group by | Columns | Dropping a card sets |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Status** | In progress, Up next, Inbox, Waiting, Backlog, Done | The status. Done completes the task. |
| **Priority** | P1 to P4 | The priority. |
| **Project** | No project, then each project | The project. Its parent and milestone are cleared. |
| **Due date** | Overdue, Today, Tomorrow, This week, Later, No date | A date for that column. **Overdue** cannot receive cards. |

Every card also has a menu with **Move to** each column, for the keyboard and for phones. Your layout and grouping are remembered on this device.

## Search, filter and sort

Search covers titles and descriptions. The **Filters** button opens the panel:

| Filter | Options |
| --- | --- |
| **Project** | Any project, No project, or one project |
| **Date added** | Any date, Added today, Last 7 days, Added earlier |
| **Due date** | Any due date, Overdue, Due today, Next 7 days, No due date |
| **Priority** | Any priority, or Priority 1 to 4 |
| **Importance** | Any importance, Important, Urgent, Important + urgent, Neither |
| **Status** | Open, Completed, All |

**Sort** offers **Recently updated**, **Oldest first**, **Due soonest**, **Due latest** and **Priority**, which puts P1 first and then the earliest due date.

Active filters show as pills you can remove with their **×**, and **Clear all** resets them. Filters apply to All tasks, My tasks and the Priority lens, and they are kept on this device for your account. The search text is not kept, so you never return to an old search.

## Good to know

- **Importance** follows the matrix rule: important means P1 or P2, and urgent means due within two days.
- To see completed tasks as a list, set **Status** to **Completed** or **All**.
- Select several tasks to act on them together. See [Task actions](https://priortasks.com/docs/tasks/task-actions/).
- A project page has its own board and list with a toolbar. See [Kanban board](https://priortasks.com/docs/projects/kanban-board/).
