TickTick alternative: how Prior compares
Prior and TickTick side by side on platforms, habits, Pomodoro, calendar, planning, collaboration, AI and price, with the pages we read on 5 November 2026.
This page sets Prior next to TickTick as of the date above. Everything about TickTick comes from TickTick's own pages, listed under Sources. Prices and plan limits change, so check them before you decide.
Who each one suits
TickTick suits you if you want a task manager with a habit tracker, a Pomodoro timer, an Eisenhower matrix and several calendar views in one app, on iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, Linux and the web. Its Free plan caps lists, tasks per list and habits, and Premium raises the caps.
Prior suits you if you want those tools plus flashcards, shared Markdown notes and a planner that places your tasks in the free hours of your calendar, with your data kept on your device first. It runs on the web, macOS, Windows, Linux and Android. It has no iOS app yet: on an iPhone you open the web app in the browser, where reminders only fire while the tab is open.

What Prior does differently
Prior starts from priority and time. A task's priority and due date place it in the Eisenhower matrix, and on Pro the planner turns your open tasks into blocks around your events. The plan is derived: Prior never moves your calendar events and writes to a task only when you lock a block.
Flashcards, shared notes, projects with a Kanban board, Scrum tools on Pro and a Game mode with XP and streaks sit in the same app. Any AI assistant can read and edit your tasks through Prior's MCP server. See Create a habit and Focus timer.
Switching from TickTick
Prior has no TickTick option in its importer. If your TickTick export is a spreadsheet-style CSV file, open Settings → Import, choose Other and add the file. Prior finds columns by their names (title, notes, due date, priority, status, project, tags), shows the mapping and a preview, and lets you change a column that was matched wrongly. If you have no CSV, copy your lists as text and paste them under Or paste text: one task per line, indent for sub-tasks, [x] for done.
Habits, Pomodoro history and countdowns do not move. Create your habits again in Prior, which offers starter habits. Nothing is saved until you confirm the preview. The steps are in Import your data.
