Share a deck with a link
Create one link that gives anyone their own copy of a deck and its chapters. How to share, what the copy holds, and how to stop sharing.
A deck link works like a published deck: whoever opens it gets their own copy. You keep editing yours, and later changes do not reach the copies already taken. Sharing a deck is free on every plan.
Share a deck
- Open the deck, choose More, then Share.
- Choose Create the link. Prior copies the link to your clipboard.
- Send the link by message, mail or chat.
The link looks like https://app.priortasks.com/deck/ followed by a code. The same sheet lets you Copy it again, from any of your devices, and shows how many people took a copy. A deck you made a moment ago is sent to the server first, so the link works right away.
If you share a pack, the copy includes its subdecks.
Stop sharing
Open the same sheet and choose Stop sharing. Anyone who opens the link then sees "This deck is no longer shared." Copies already taken stay with their owners. If you share again later, you get a new link, and the old one stays dead. A deck has one active link at a time.
Open a deck link
When you open a link:
- If you have an account and are signed in on the web, a dialog titled A deck for you shows the deck, the number of cards and chapters, and who shares it. Choose Add to my decks, or Not now to forget the link. If you already took this deck, the button reads Open.
- If you use the desktop or Android app, choose Already use the Prior app? Open the deck there on the link's page. The app opens with the same dialog.
- If you have no account, the page offers Continue with Google or an email and a password, Create my account, and then opens the deck at once. It skips the first-run questions and the tour. The new account starts in Calm mode with Flashcards and Focus in its menu.
Opening the same link again takes you to the copy you already have, as long as it still exists. If you deleted the copy, the link copies it again. If you open your own link, you land on your own deck.
What a copy holds
A copy has the deck as a top-level deck, its subdecks, and every card with its type, text, tags, picture masks and original order. Pictures used on the cards are copied too. A copy can hold up to 20,000 notes.
It never holds your progress: no answers, flags, suspended or buried cards. Every card starts as new for the new owner.
Good to know
- Chat apps show a preview of the link with the deck name, the number of cards and chapters, and the first chapters.
- To give someone a file instead, export the deck: see Import and export decks.
- Sharing links are not part of your data export.
