Delete your account
Delete your Prior account and its data from Settings → Profile & account. See what is erased at once, what is kept for teammates and the law, and what to do first.
You can delete your account yourself, from any device, without writing to anyone. Deleting is permanent: there is no grace period and no undo.
Before you delete
- Export your data if you want a copy. The deletion dialog has a button for it. See Export your data.
- Cancel the renewal instead if you want to keep your plan until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the account cancels the subscription at once. See Manage your subscription.
- Let your sync finish. Changes still waiting on your device are lost with the account.
Delete the account
- Open Settings → Profile & account.
- In the Danger zone, choose Delete my account….
- In the Delete your account? dialog, type your email under Type {your email} to confirm.
- Type your Current password. If you use Google only, you must have signed in within the last 10 minutes: if not, choose Sign out to sign in again, sign in, and retry.
- If two-step verification is on, type a code under Authenticator or recovery code.
- Choose Delete permanently.
If your subscription cannot be cancelled with Stripe, nothing is deleted and the dialog says so: "Your subscription could not be canceled, so nothing was deleted. Try again in a moment." When it works, Prior signs you out on every device and returns to the sign-in screen.
What is erased at once
Your tasks, habits, notes and attachments, areas and folders, flashcards, assistant chats, settings, sessions and access keys, game progress, project memberships, invitations and share links you created, and your connected Gmail and Google Calendar accounts (their access is revoked at Google). The copy of your data on the device you deleted from is wiped too. Server backups roll over within 30 days.
What stays
- Shared projects you own are handed to the longest-standing active editor, or to another member if there is no editor. A project with nobody else in it is deleted. The new owner keeps the project, and the project loses its area, which was yours.
- Your tasks in other people's projects stay in those projects, with the project owner. Your teammates' boards and history survive.
- Your comments stay on the tasks, shown as "Deleted user".
- Payment records that accounting law requires are kept for 10 years, without any link to your account.
If you cannot sign in
Use the web app and Forgot password? if you only forgot the password. If you still cannot get in, write to contact@priortasks.com from the email address of the account and ask for deletion.
Good to know
- To leave a shared project without deleting your account, see Leave a project.
- The public page for stores and search engines is at
/delete-account.htmland says the same. - A new account with the same email is a new, empty account.
