See a habit's streak and history

Read a habit's current and best streak, its completion rate and a 12-week grid, and fix past days by checking or unchecking them.

Every habit has its own page, shown as a sheet. It answers "how am I really doing?" and lets you correct the record.

The history of a habit, with its year heatmap

Open it

Click a habit's title, or right-click it (long-press on a phone) and choose Details and history.

The figures

The top of the sheet shows the schedule and the time, with Since and the start date. Four figures follow:

  • Current streak: the number of scheduled days you completed in a row, counting back from the most recent one. Today's open day does not break the streak: it only counts once you check it in.
  • Best streak: the longest run you have ever had.
  • Last 30 days: the share of scheduled days you completed, with the count, such as "24 of 28".
  • Since the start: the same share over the whole life of the habit.

Streaks and rates follow the schedule. A habit due on Mondays and Wednesdays is not broken by a Tuesday, and days off the schedule are never counted as missed. A streak counts occurrences, so for a weekly habit "3 days" means three scheduled days in a row.

The 12-week grid

Last 12 weeks draws one square per day, a column per week, Monday at the top, with the current week last and month names above. The colour tells you the state of each day:

StateMeaning
DoneChecked in.
MissedScheduled, in the past, not checked.
Due todayScheduled today, not checked yet.
Coming upScheduled in the future.
Not scheduledA day off for this habit.
Before the startEarlier than the start date.

Fix the record

Press a past day to check it in or to remove the check. This works for scheduled days, for days you completed outside the schedule and for today. Future days and days off cannot be pressed. A toast with Undo follows the change, and the streak and the rates update at once.

On a keyboard, the grid is one tab stop: use the up and down arrows to move by a day, the left and right arrows to move by a week, and Enter or Space to check or uncheck.

Edit or delete from here

The sheet has Edit and Delete. Both close the sheet first. Deleting keeps its Undo toast.

Good to know

  • You can also backfill from the week strip on each habit's row, without opening the sheet.
  • In Game mode, your account's daily streak counts any task completed or habit checked on a day. See Streaks.
