Start a free trial

Pro and Team start with 14 days free. A card is needed, nothing is charged during the trial, and cancelling before the end costs nothing.

Your first Pro or Team subscription starts with a 14-day free trial. You give a card to start it, but Prior charges nothing until the trial ends. If you cancel before the end, you pay nothing.

Start the trial

  1. Open Plans in the sidebar, or choose See plans in Settings → Subscription.
  2. Pick Monthly or Yearly.
  3. Choose Try free for 14 days under Pro or Team. For Team, set the number of seats first.
  4. Enter your card on the secure Stripe page and confirm.

The trial works with either billing period. The button says Try free for 14 days only if you can still have a trial. Otherwise it says Choose Pro or Choose Team and the first payment is due at once.

While you try it

Settings → Subscription shows Free trial on your plan, how many days are left, and what comes next: "First payment of {amount} on {date}. Cancel before and you pay nothing." The page also shows a progress bar through the 14 days. Billing history stays empty until the first invoice, which comes at the end of the trial.

Three days before the end, Prior emails you the end date and the amount that will be charged, unless you have already cancelled.

You have everything the plan includes. See Plans and prices.

Cancel during the trial

  1. Open Settings → Subscription.
  2. Under Cancellation, choose Cancel subscription.
  3. Confirm on the Stripe page that opens.

You keep the plan until the day the trial ends, then you move to Free with all your data. Nothing is charged. To change your mind before that day, choose Keep my subscription.

What happens at the end

If you do nothing, the paid subscription starts automatically and the first period is charged to your card. Your plan then shows Active with the date of the next payment.

Team trials

During a Team trial, 5 seats work, yours included, even if you chose more. Every seat you paid for opens with the first payment. See Give Team seats.

Good to know

  • One trial per account. An account that already had a subscription gets no second trial.
  • Your right to withdraw. In the EU, consumers have 14 days to withdraw. During the trial, that period runs inside the trial, so cancelling within 14 days ends the contract with no payment. Without a trial, you ask for immediate access when you order, which gives up the withdrawal right once the service starts. The terms of sale have the details: see the terms of sale.
  • A Team seat given to you by someone else is not a trial of your own.
  • If the card cannot be charged when the trial ends, see Fix a payment problem.
