Dictate instead of typing

Speak to the assistant or in a task, and Prior turns your voice into text you can check before it goes anywhere.

Dictation turns what you say into text. The words land in the box as a draft, so you can read and correct them before you send anything.

Dictate

  1. Click the microphone next to the text box.
  2. Allow the microphone if your browser or system asks.
  3. Speak. A waveform moves while it records.
  4. Click stop. Prior transcribes, then puts the text in the box.
  5. Read it, fix what needs fixing, and send.

You can Cancel while it records, and nothing is kept.

Good to know

  • The recording is not kept. It goes to the transcription service to become text, and Prior does not store it. See AI and privacy.
  • If it fails, you see a message and can go on typing. Check that the microphone is allowed for Prior in your system settings.
  • Some browsers and devices cannot record: the button then says voice input is unavailable.
