Leaderboards, usernames and kudos

Choose whether others can see you, pick a username, follow project leaderboards with your team, and thank a teammate with kudos for a finished task.

Nobody sees your progress unless you decide to show it. Leaderboards in Prior are opt-in, and they never show your email or your real name.

Pick a username

Your username is how you appear on the global boards. Set it in Settings → Game, under Public identity, then choose Save.

  • 3 to 20 characters: lowercase letters, digits and underscores.
  • It must be free: if it is taken, you are asked for another.
  • Names that could pass for Prior or its staff (starting with "prior", "admin", "support", "staff", "moderator" or "official") and offensive names are refused.

Choose who can see you

Leaderboards in Settings → Game has three options:

OptionWhat others see
PublicYour username, level, rank, pet with its hat, name effect, border and title.
AnonymousThe same, under an animal name like "Anonymous Otter".
HiddenNothing. You do not appear on leaderboards or in leagues.

New accounts start on Hidden. You can change it at any time. In Calm mode you never appear, whatever this says.

The global boards

Progress → Leagues has an All-time section with a Level board and a Streak board. Your own line shows even when you are outside the top. For the weekly competition, see Climb the weekly leagues.

Project leaderboards

Shared projects can have their own leaderboard, among teammates only. Open the project and choose its Leaderboard tab. The tab appears on projects that are really shared, when you are in Game mode or you manage the project.

The owner chooses the mode:

  • Off: no leaderboard for this project.
  • Competitive: members are ranked by the XP they earn on this project's tasks, for This week and All time.
  • Team: one shared weekly goal. Contributions are listed, never ranked. The owner sets the Weekly team goal in XP, and Prior suggests a value.

Each member decides for themselves. The first time you open a project with a leaderboard, Prior asks Join this project's leaderboard? Teammates will see your name, your level and the XP you earn on that project. Choose Join or Not now, and change your mind later with Leave. Declining is silent: nobody is told.

Give kudos

Kudos thank a teammate for a finished task in a shared project.

  1. Open a completed task of a shared project.
  2. Choose Give kudos. The button then reads Kudos sent.
  • You can give kudos once per task, and not on your own work.
  • Your teammate gets 5 XP and a message with your name and the task. They earn that XP for at most 5 kudos a day.
  • The button appears when you are in Game mode.
  • The achievements Cheerleader (give 10) and Crowd favorite (receive 25) count them.

Good to know

  • Nothing here needs a paid plan.
  • Turning visibility to Hidden removes you from boards. Your XP and level keep counting.
  • Project leaderboards show your account name to the teammates of that project. The global boards never show your name.
