Lock a planned block in place
Keep a task at the time Prior chose, or drag it somewhere else, so that the plan works around it and never moves it again.
A planned block is only a suggestion until you lock it. Locking saves the date and time on the task itself, and from then on Prior plans everything else around it.
Lock a block
- Click a block in the calendar, or in Your plan on Today.
- Press Keep this time.
The block turns solid with a lock and the label Locked by you. If the task had no duration, the block's length becomes its duration.
Drag a block
In the Day and Week views, drag a block to another time or day. Dropping it locks the task there, and a toast says Block locked at this time with an Undo button. Drag the bottom edge to resize it: the new length becomes the task's duration. If part of the task's checklist is already done, Prior scales the duration up so that the block keeps the length you drew.
Only a block that is not split can be dragged. Blocks of a task cut into several parts stay put.
What else the block dialog does
- Mark done completes the task.
- Open task opens it.
- Not today plans the task from the next working day on.
- Planning settings opens your planning settings.
The dialog also tells you how the length was found: Your estimate, Estimated by Prior AI or Estimated from the title. It shows Deep work or Quick work and, for a split task, Part 1 of 3.
Let Prior choose the time again
Open a locked block and press Let Prior choose the time. The time is removed from the task. The day stays as a preference, so Prior plans the task on that day when it can.
Good to know
- A locked time is real task data: it syncs to your other devices.
- Prior never moves a block in progress, and it never moves a locked block that is still ahead.
- If the time passes and the task is not done, Prior plans the task again from the present.
- A task with a date but no time is not locked: Prior plans it that day and may choose any hour.
