The 76 tools and 5 prompts an AI assistant can use in Prior, grouped by what they do, with what is out of reach on purpose.
This is the full list of what an assistant can do in your Prior account once it is connected. You never call these tools yourself: you ask in plain words and the assistant picks them. The list helps you know what is possible and what to allow or block.
Every tool does what you can do in the app, with the same rules: your role in each shared project applies, plan limits apply, and a change shows up in your apps at once.
Dates are YYYY-MM-DD and times are HH:MM on a 24-hour clock. Priority runs from 1 (highest) to 4 (none). A task status is one of inbox, backlog, next, in_progress, waiting or done. Money is counted in cents. Story points are a multiple of 0.5. Most tools need an ID, which the assistant gets from a list or search tool.
Lists tasks, open by default, including those of shared projects. Filters: open, completed or all; text; project; area; status; priority; assignee; parent task; milestone; sprint; due before or after a date; planned on a day
get_task
Reads one task with every field
create_task
Creates a task. Beyond the title it takes a description, due and planned dates and times, priority, status, project or area, assignee, parent task, milestone, links to other tasks, estimated minutes, follow-up date, reminder, story points, a repeat rule and a checklist of up to 100 items
create_tasks
Creates up to 100 tasks in one call, with sub-tasks. Preferred over many single calls
update_task
Changes fields of a task. Fields you leave out stay as they are, and null clears a date, a project, a reminder or a repeat rule
complete_task
Marks a task done, or reopens it. Completing a repeating task creates its next occurrence
delete_task
Deletes a task. It leaves every app at once
set_task_cycle
Puts a task in a sprint or cycle of its project, or takes it out
Lists areas and projects, yours and shared, with their IDs and whether a project has a budget
get_project
Reads one project: description, status, dates, health, type, methodology, milestones, sprints with their tasks, members and your role, and counts of open and done tasks
create_project
Creates a project, with its milestones, sprints and first tasks in the same call
update_project
Changes a project's details, and adds, changes or removes its milestones and sprints. For owners and editors
delete_project
Deletes a project you own. Its tasks stay, without a project
restore_project
Brings back a deleted project
create_area, update_area
Creates or changes an area: name, color, icon
delete_area
Deletes an area. Its projects stay, without an area
Lists notes without their text. Filters: personal or shared, project, folder, text, favorites, trash
get_note
Reads one note with its full Markdown text
create_note
Creates a note in Markdown, tables and charts included. In a shared project it becomes a shared note everyone edits live, unless you ask for a personal one
update_note
Changes a note: replace exact passages, add text at the end, or rewrite it. On a shared note it writes one small edit, so people reading it keep their place
delete_note
Moves a note to the trash
restore_note
Brings a note back from the trash
share_note_with_project
Turns a personal note into a shared note of a project, like Share with the project in the app
The burn down and burn up data of a sprint. A Pro feature of the project owner
planning_poker
Runs Planning Poker: read the table, start a session, vote, reveal, revote, close, move to a task, save an estimate, or split a story into smaller tasks. A Pro feature of the project owner
Reads and changes the settings of automatic time blocking: working days and hours, lunch, buffers, breaks, travel time, block lengths, daily focus time and whether Prior AI estimates durations. The plan itself is computed in the apps, and a task is fixed in it by giving it a planned date and time
list_calendars, list_calendar_events
Lists your Prior calendars and their events between two dates
create_calendar_event, update_calendar_event
Adds or changes an event, one-off or repeating
delete_calendar_event
Deletes an event with all its repeats
Only Prior's own local calendars are reachable. Google and ICS calendars are read by the apps, not by assistants.
Reads a project's budget: lines, statuses, totals. Anyone in the project can read it, viewers included
update_project_budget
Adds, changes or removes budget lines, and sets the currency or the envelope. Only the lines it names are touched, so other people's changes are kept. For owners and editors
A prompt is a ready-made request. Claude Code lists them as slash commands such as /mcp__prior__plan_my_day. Other apps may show them in their own way, or not at all. Every one of them except make_flashcards ends by asking the assistant to show what it proposes before it changes anything.
Prompt
What it asks for
plan_my_day
Plans a day from what is overdue, due and planned, within the hours you really have. Optional: a date, the number of hours
triage_inbox
Goes through the inbox and proposes a project, priority and date for each task
weekly_review
What got done this week, what slipped, how habits went and the three things that matter next week
break_down_project
Turns a goal into a project with milestones, tasks and sub-tasks. Needs the goal, optionally a deadline
make_flashcards
Turns a course (pasted text, a file, a URL or a topic) into a complete set of cards, with figures. Optional: a deck name, a focus
They delete:delete_task, delete_habit, delete_project, delete_area, delete_note, delete_note_folder, delete_task_comment, delete_calendar_event, delete_flashcard, delete_flashcard_deck, remove_project_member. Projects, notes and members can be restored or invited again; the others cannot. The Undo of the app does not exist for an assistant.
They reach other people:share_project, manage_project_invite, project_share_links, share_flashcard_deck. Assigning a task, mentioning someone in a comment and starting a Planning Poker session also notify them.
They overwrite:update_note with a full rewrite, and update_project_budget removing lines.
Prior marks each tool as read-only, writing or deleting, and apps use that to decide what to ask you about.
An assistant cannot reach your password, your sign-in methods or two-factor settings, your sessions and access keys, your subscription and payment details, the deletion of your account or the export of your data, or the AI keys you saved in Prior. It can read which plan you are on, and what that plan includes, so it can tell you when a feature needs Pro.
It does not read your mail or your Google calendars through Prior.
There is no tool to review flashcards, run the Focus timer, open chests or change your display and notification settings. Ask the assistant to prepare the work, and do those in the app.
