Fix sign-in problems

You cannot sign in, the reset email does not arrive, Google sign-in fails or the 6-digit code is refused. Find your case and try the fix.

Find the line that looks like what you see.

"invalid email or password"

  • Check the email for typos. The address is not case-sensitive, but it must be the one you signed up with.
  • Retype the password slowly. The eye button shows what you typed. A password has 8 to 128 characters.
  • If you created your account with Continue with Google, you may have no password: use Continue with Google again, with the same Google account.
  • Not sure? Choose Forgot password? and reset it (below).

The reset email does not arrive

The link is sent only to an address that has an account, and Prior says the same thing either way: "If an account uses {email}, a reset link is on its way. Check your inbox and spam folder."

  • Look in spam and in other tabs of your mailbox.
  • Check the address. If you have several, you may have signed up with another.
  • Wait a minute. Prior sends at most one reset email a minute and five an hour for an account.
  • Use the newest email only: a new link cancels the one before.
  • The link works once and for 30 minutes. If it says the link is invalid or expired, ask for a new one from the sign-in screen.

Resetting your password signs you out everywhere. See Sign in and reset your password.

"too many authentication attempts"

Sign-in is limited per network to stop automated guessing. Wait a minute and try again, and avoid repeated attempts in a row.

Google sign-in fails

  • "Google sign-in failed or was cancelled. Please try again." Start again and finish on Google's page. On Android, pick the account in the system dialog.
  • "The sign-in link is missing its code. Please sign in again." Start from Prior, not from an old tab or an old link.
  • "Sign-in timed out. Check your connection and try again."
  • On desktop, Google's page opens in your browser and then hands you back to the app. If nothing happens, go back to the Prior window and start again.
  • Google sign-in needs a Google account whose email is verified.

The 6-digit code is refused

  • The code changes every 30 seconds and works once. Wait for the next one.
  • Your phone's clock must be right: turn on automatic date and time. See Fix a wrong date or time.
  • After 10 wrong codes in a row, verification locks for 15 minutes: "Too many wrong codes. Try again in 15 minutes."
  • "This sign-in expired. Sign in again." means the 5 minutes ran out. Start again with your password.
  • Lost your phone? Choose Use a recovery code instead and type one of the 10 codes you saved when you turned on two-step verification. Each works once.

"Session expired"

Your session ran out, you reset your password, or the session was revoked. Sign in again. Your data is on the server and comes back.

You are signed in but see nothing

You may be in a different account than the one with your data, for example a Google account and a password account with different emails. Settings → Profile & account shows the email of the account you are in.

When to write to support

Write to contact@priortasks.com from the email address of your account if you lost your phone and your recovery codes, if the reset email never arrives after the checks above, or if you are sure the password is right and still refused. Say which of these cases fits, your platform, and the time you tried. Never send your password or a code. See Report a problem.
