Climb the weekly leagues
Every week you compete for XP with about 30 people at your level. See how cohorts form, who moves up or down on Monday, and how to join or leave.
Leagues turn a week of work into a friendly ranking. You are grouped with about 30 other people in the same league, the most active move up on Monday, and a new week starts from zero.
The ten leagues
Pebble, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Sapphire, Ruby, Emerald, Amethyst, Obsidian and Diamond. Everyone starts in Pebble.
How a week works
- You join with your first XP of the week. Prior puts you in a group of about 30 players in your league. Until you earn XP, the page says your league is waiting.
- You are ranked by the XP you earn that week: tasks, habits, kudos and achievements. The starting XP credited when you first turn Game on never counts.
- The week ends on Monday at 00:00 UTC. Prior closes every group and tells you the result the next time you open the app.
On a full group of 30, the top 7 move up a league and the bottom 5 move down. Smaller groups scale both numbers down and never overlap them. Three more rules:
- Nobody moves up without earning XP that week.
- Pebble cannot move down, and Diamond cannot move up.
- On a tie, whoever joined the group first ranks higher.
Progress → Leagues shows your group, the time left (Ends in), a Promotion zone and a Demotion zone, and last week's result. A message tells you when you are promoted, when you held your place and when you go back a league.
Who can join
Leagues only include people who choose to be seen. You need to be in Game mode and have Leaderboards set to Public or Anonymous in Settings → Game. With Hidden, which is the default, you never join a league. The Leagues tab then offers Change visibility. Switching it on mid-week joins you the next time you earn XP.
Players see your username and level, or an animal name such as "Anonymous Otter" if you choose Anonymous, never your email or real name. See Leaderboards, usernames and kudos.
All-time boards
The All-time section shows a Level board and a Streak board. They list everyone who is visible, beyond your league.
Good to know
- Getting promoted earns the Rising star achievement, and reaching Diamond earns Diamond league.
- Leagues need a connection: offline, the tab tells you so.
- The daily XP limit makes it hard to win by grinding: see How XP and levels work.
- In Calm mode you do not join leagues. See Choose Calm or Game.
