Connect Prior to Claude
Add Prior to Claude on the web, desktop or phone as a custom connector, sign in once, then ask Claude to plan your day and manage your work.
Claude can work in your Prior account once you add Prior as a custom connector. The connector is on your Claude account, so it appears in Claude on the web, in the desktop app and on your phone. It works on the Free, Pro, Max, Ultra, Team and Enterprise plans of Claude. On Claude's Free plan you can have one custom connector.
Add it in one click
ChatGPT
- Open ChatGPT's plugins page with the button above.
- Click +, then Add custom MCP server.
- Name it Prior, paste the server address (it is already copied) and choose OAuth.
- Create it, sign in to Prior, then type @ in a chat to use it.

claude mcp add --transport http prior https://api.priortasks.com/mcp - Codex
codex mcp add prior --url https://api.priortasks.com/mcp - Gemini CLI
gemini mcp add --transport http prior https://api.priortasks.com/mcp
- Click Add to Claude. Claude opens its Add custom connector dialog with the name Prior and Prior's address already filled in. It warns you that the values came from an external link: check them and confirm.
- If the dialog asks about authentication, choose Sign in now. If it asks how Claude identifies itself, keep Use Claude's published identity: Register automatically works too. You do not need your own OAuth client or a secret.
- Click Add, then Connect.
- Your browser opens Prior. Sign in with your Prior account if you are not already, check the name of the app, and click Allow.
- Go back to Claude. Prior is connected.
If you prefer to type it, go to Customize → Connectors, click Add custom connector, enter Prior as the name and https://api.priortasks.com/mcp as the address, and continue from step 2.
On a Team or Enterprise plan
An Owner of your Claude organization adds the connector once, in Organization settings → Connectors: Add, then Custom, then the address above. Each member then opens Customize → Connectors, finds Prior with the Custom label and clicks Connect. Each member signs in with their own Prior account, so everyone works in their own data.
Use it
Start a conversation and ask: "What is on my plate today?" Claude shows the Prior tools it uses and asks before it runs them, depending on its permission settings.
- In a conversation, click + and choose Connectors to turn Prior on or off for that conversation.
- Under Customize → Connectors, open Prior to set the permission of each tool, including Blocked. Block the tools you never want, for example the ones that delete.
- Claude's documentation says to click Always allow only for servers you trust. For Prior, keep asking on anything that deletes or reaches other people.
For ideas, see Recipes. The list of what Claude can reach is in Every tool and prompt.
Good to know
- Claude calls it Custom. That label is what Claude gives any connector that is not in its own directory, and Anthropic has not reviewed it. Prior's safety rests on your sign-in and your permissions: see Keep your connection safe.
- The connection is yours. It appears in Settings → Integrations under Claude's name, with a Revoke button. Remove the connector in Claude to stop using it, and click Revoke in Prior to cancel its access.
- It acts with your rights. Claude can do what you can do in Prior, no more, with your role in each shared project.
- Claude's documentation has the latest screens: Add a connector that isn't in the directory.
